If you cannot hit the target
Use JPEG for photos. If you still miss 200KB, reduce longest edge (for example 1200–1600px) then compress again. Prefer WebP only if the form accepts it.

Frequently asked questions
PNG photo will not go under 200KB — why?
Photo-like PNGs are hard to shrink this small. Switch output to JPEG or WebP in Custom settings, or lower max width first, then compress again.
Is compression private?
Yes. Nothing leaves your device — files are processed in your browser only. Our Privacy page explains what local tools do and do not store.
Result looks soft or still too large — what now?
Open Compare on that result to preview before/after. Use Adjust to re-compress just that image with a different quality, target size, or max width.
Which output format works best for 200KB?
JPEG is the usual choice for passport-style and form photos. WebP can be smaller at similar quality if the upload form accepts it.
